　第二次次世界大戦直後に書かれ、冷戦が終わった今読んでも、説得力がある。

　ロンドンで革命が起きた後の世界。王も資本家も貴族もいなくなった世界。革命以前の文化もすべて、消されていく。
　
　情報を統制し、統計を改ざんする。人々は物を考えなくする。だが支配者達そのものも、意識のなかで過去を今を改ざんし、思考を組み替えて
権力の維持のみを考えるようになる、もう共産主義の理想もない。

逢瀬を重ねてゆく。そして、支配者に見つかり捉われ、それぞれか洗脳、処刑されていく。

Reading 1984,

Written right after World War II, it remains persuasive even after the Cold War has ended.

The world after a revolution in London. A world without kings, capitalists, or nobles. All culture from before the revolution is being erased.

Control of information and falsification of statistics. People are made to stop thinking. But the rulers themselves also manipulate the past and present in their minds, reconfigure their thoughts, focusing solely on maintaining power, with no ideal of communism left.

The protagonist, touching upon the culture before the revolution and feeling melancholy, comes closer to the truth of this world's structure. He engages in affairs with a woman who, unlike him, does not think about things, relying instead on sensation and the moment. Then, found by the rulers, they are captured, brainwashed, or executed.

I want to keep thinking like the protagonist, even as the structure of the world envelops me. However, I do not understand why the protagonists were attracted to each other, why they loved each other. Can we reach a broader sense of freedom that transcends politics and thought, beyond the ideal of love?
